Discover the wonders of Gombe National Park on this 4-day chimpanzee-trekking adventure. Nestled along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, Gombe is famous for its lush forests and the wild chimpanzees studied by Jane Goodall. Trek scenic trails with expert guides, observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat, explore waterfalls and enjoy breathtaking lake views.
You are picked up from your hotel or Kigoma Airport and transferred to the boat for a scenic cruise across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park. Check in, settle in and receive a short briefing from your guide.
In the afternoon, head into the forest for your first chimpanzee trek, with excellent chances of seeing chimpanzees, baboons and other primates. In the evening, relax at the Lake Tanganyika beach for a swim and a sunset before dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, embark on a full chimpanzee-trekking adventure deep into the forest, visiting the Kakombe Waterfall and exploring the lush forest ecosystem. Along the way you may encounter baboons, colobus, red-tailed, blue and red-headed monkeys.
Return to camp for lunch, then enjoy swimming in Lake Tanganyika or unwind on the beach at sunset before dinner and overnight.
Another day exploring Gombe's forests. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, a chimpanzee trek may lead you to a different community, offering fresh insight into their social lives. Your guide shares information on chimpanzee behaviour, conservation and Jane Goodall's research, with a visit to Jane's Peak for panoramic views over the lake.
After lunch, relax with a boat excursion or a guided birdwatching walk before dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, set out on a final chimpanzee trek for one last opportunity to observe these remarkable primates. Return to camp to freshen up, then board a boat for the scenic journey back across Lake Tanganyika to Kigoma, where you are transferred to your hotel or Kigoma Airport and the safari ends.
