An amazing 8-day safari through three great national parks — Mikumi, Ruaha and Nyerere (Selous Game Reserve) — finishing in Zanzibar. Along the way, enjoy diverse wildlife, a boat safari on the Rufiji River, a walking safari and the historic Isimila Stone Age Site, before flying to the island to unwind.
Our driver picks you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam at around 5:30 am and drives to Mikumi National Park. After lunch, enjoy game drives until sunset, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Mikumi's plains are home to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests and lions.
After breakfast, transfer at around 7:30 am from Mikumi to Ruaha National Park, viewing wildlife and attractions along the way. Check in at your lodge outside the park for dinner and overnight.
Two full days of game drives in Ruaha, exploring different routes each day. Ruaha is famous for its large elephant herds and abundant predators; expect a packed lunch and time to rest before continuing until sunset, returning to the lodge each evening for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, depart Ruaha towards Morogoro through scenic rural landscapes. Stop at the historic Isimila Stone Age Site — one of the most important archaeological sites in East Africa — for a guided walk among the dramatic sandstone pillars. Continue to Morogoro with a lunch stop en route, arriving in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Early in the morning, drive from Morogoro to Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve), passing local villages along the way. After resting, enjoy an evening boat safari on the great Rufiji River to see crocodiles, hippos and more.
Start early with a guided bush walk outside the park boundaries, learning about plants, tracks and birdlife on foot. Return for breakfast, then enter Nyerere for a game drive across open plains, miombo woodland and the Rufiji River, where you may spot elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo and zebras. Enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Nyerere and transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Zanzibar, where you are transferred to your hotel or onward destination. Alternatively, drive back to Dar es Salaam. This marks the end of your safari.
