A full-day safari to Mikumi National Park, reached by the fast SGR train from Dar es Salaam. Mikumi is famous for the Mkata Floodplain — often called the "Little Serengeti" for its vast open grasslands and excellent wildlife viewing against the backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains.
Your safari begins with an early-morning pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and a transfer to the SGR railway station. At around 05:30 you board the train to Morogoro, arriving about 08:00, where you meet your safari guide and transfer to Mikumi National Park for a game drive from around 09:00.
Mikumi is famous for the Mkata Floodplain, often called the "Little Serengeti" for its vast open grasslands and excellent wildlife viewing. Look for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of birds against the backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains.
After a lunch break, continue with a short afternoon game drive, then begin the journey back to Morogoro station for the evening SGR train to Dar es Salaam, where you are transferred to your hotel.
