Nyerere · Selous
Selous (Nyerere National Park) covers around 54,600 km² — Africa's largest wildlife reserve and Tanzania's most extensive protected area. It shelters large numbers of elephants and lions, big populations of buffalo, wild dogs, crocodiles and hippos, while the Rufiji River teems with birdlife. This 3-day trip combines a boat safari, full-day game drives and a walking safari with an armed guide.
You are picked up at your hotel, airport or ferry in Dar es Salaam for a safari briefing, then drive south to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP), about four hours away. On arrival, enjoy lunch and an afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River. Dinner and overnight at your lodge on a full-board basis.
After breakfast, set out on a full-day game drive with packed lunch boxes, enjoying a picnic lunch at a scenic site your guide selects. After lunch and some relaxation, continue the game drive until the evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Start the day with a morning walking safari of around two and a half hours with an armed guide. Return to the lodge to freshen up and have breakfast, then drive back to Dar es Salaam with packed lunch boxes. On arrival, you are dropped at the airport for your onward flight, or at your hotel or the ferry for Zanzibar or Mafia Island.
